The art poster illustrates nine of the ten most significant events of Sámi political history. It is designed by Ingemund Skålnes in collaboration with historian Mikkel Berg-Nordlie.

This is a limited edition, with each copy numbered and signed. The printing technique used is screen print on Munken Pure Rough 300g paper, with the dimensions of 50×70 cm. The art poster was printed by 10/10 Tekstiltrykkeri in Oslo.

1873 Finnmark

The first Sami member organization,
Vieljažiid searvi, is established.
It publishes the world’s first Sami
newspaper Muitalægje.

1904 Stockholm

Elsa Laula Renberg publishes the
battle pamphlet Inför lif eller död

1906 Oslo

Isak Saba becomes the first Sami representative in the
Norwegian parliament. During the election campaign,
he publishes Sámi soga lávlla. The song later becomes
the national anthem of the Sami people.

1917 Trondheim

The first cross-border Sami congress takes place.

1956 Karasjok

The Nordic Sami Council is established.

1989-1996

The Sami Parliaments are established
in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

1968-1982 Kautokeino-Alta river

The Alta conflict sparks a Sami cultural
and political renaissance.

2023 Fosen

Actions against wind turbines and
human rights violations on Fosen

1992 Helsinki

Russia’s Sami are included in the Nordic Sami Council,
which now changes its name to simply the Sami Council.
The Sami conference also selects February 6 as the
Sami National Day, and a melody for the national anthem.

The artwork was also exhibited at the annual Juleutstillingen of Kunstnerforbundet in 2023 and at the Oslo Metropolitan University in 2024. The latter institution has acquired the artwork as part of its Sami art collection. Additionally, the artwork has been purchased by the Sámiráđđi (Saami Council) and the Oslo sámi viessu (Oslo Sami House).
